Appointment Requests for Incoming Freshmen Students
At this particular time, setting up appointments is difficult if not impossible due to our current student case-load and responsibilities. Many questions for our incoming freshmen can be addressed at the San Clemente High School website: www.sctritons.com or the following links: www.sctritons.com/9thgrade, www.sctritons.com/college or www.sctritons.com/athletics.
Parents are invited to attend one of the Transition to High School workshops at the following middle schools: Bernice Ayers (3/2), Vista Del Mar (3/5) or Shorecliffs (3/4) from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A question and answer time will be held after each parent workshop. Your current middle school academic advisor is your primary resource for transitioning and schedule questions. Please contact them for any transition questions and concerns.
Be sure to come to the 8th grade parent/student night on March 9, 5:30 - 7:00 pm.
The high school academic advisors look forward working with you and your child beginning the month of August and wish you a safe summer break.
Sincerely,
The Guidance Staff
4-year plans
During grade 9, all students are required to take the College and Career Planning (CCP) course as part of their graduation requirement. The primary goal of this course it to increase students' career awareness through career exploration to make informed decisions regarding their future post-secondary goals, educational and career. As part of the class, the Academic Advisors will work with students to devise a 4-Year Plan. The 4-Year Plan is an ongoing project which spans from grade 9 through grade 12, allowing students to keep track of their graduation requirements as well as requirements necessary for college admissions.
Grade Point Average
Semester grade point averages will be computed using the numerical value listed below (i.e. A=4). Grades earned in Advanced Placement and Honors classes will be computed using a different numerical value (i.e. A=5). Accelerated courses do not carry a weighted grade. Physical education classes are not counted in the computation of AGPA with the exception of determining eligibility.
